About Best Dosimetry
Best Dosimetry Services (BDS) provides personnel radiation dosimetry services for measuring and tracking the radiation dose received by workers occupationally exposed to ionizing radiation. We serve a variety of customers including hospitals, dental practices, veterinary practices, educational institutions, non-destructive testing companies, and numerous other organizations that utilize radioactive materials or devices that produce radiation.
BDS is accredited by the National Voluntary Laboratory Accreditation Program (NVLAP Lab Code: 200998-0). NVLAP is operated by the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) and accredits dosimetry processors for their particular dosimeters and processing equipment. BDS's accreditation includes whole body and extremity ring dosimeters that utilize thermoluminescent dosimeters (TLD) for measuring doses of radiation from gamma, x-ray, beta and neutron radiation. For each monitored employee, the BDS Dose Report shows the dose for the most recent wear period as well as the cumulative year-to-date and lifetime dose.
